>XYIt could use a Z version, but it didn't really need one. It just needed Sun and Moon to be a proper expansion instead of a blank slate. With how much Alola is referenced in XY compared to any other future gen in a mainline title, it's just a shame Gen 7 ended up being a step backwards in every single way which only further hindered the opinion on XY. They're no masterpiece, but they didn't exactly "need" a third version.
