>>54451537That may be true, but only on a case-by-case basis. Some translate well, some don't. Let's use Tyranitar as an example of exactly that, as it's seeing a lot of popularity among other Anons here: gen 3 (left) is a bit awkward to translate into 3D- it is definitely an example of a freeze-frame pose for the sake of being dynamic. However, gen 4 (right) is far more believable as a battle stance as it doesn't require Tyranitar to be in an uncomfortable position while being realistic to how one might take a defensive stance (i.e. professional boxers holding their arms up to defend against hits to the face and offers opportunities to counter.) It also doesn't sacrifice personality altogether, Tyranitar looks ready to brawl all the same.
That being said, Gardevoir is the latter; it's not uncomfortable, it can be interpreted as vaguely idle but still ready just like gen 4 Tyranitar, and has the added bonus of being far more expressive than simply facing forward and emotionless. Even gen 3 Gardevoir has this issue, albeit not nearly as bad.
An honorable mention I'd like to bring to light is Colosseum Groudon and also even Mightyena vs 3DS era for both, which is a perfect example that you don't need spritework to be dynamic. They both share a similar pose that has their rear end and/or tails jutted to the side while the front of the body faces forward.
