They did the same with some of the Pokemon that got Hisuian variants such as Samurott (Unovan Samurott not being allowed in, but Unovan Oshawott and Dewott are) with Legends Arceus except they had you wait until SV released and then furthermore for Home support to even know you got a ribbon from Legends Arceus. They're lucky they allowed backwards compatibility, otherwise a lot of ribbon collectors would have been sorely robbed.
