I unironically think this is the biggest mistake in the history of the world. Retiring Ash and Pikachu is setting up Pokemon to become Digimon and Yugioh where the producers wheel out Yugi and the original Digidestined to draw in viewers once more...
Pokemon is fucked. Especially with that male design. Unless the girl, who appears to be the new Ash, is totally different from Ash and not some expy of him there is no reason to replace Ash.
