The :orig trick can get back image quality, bu it's obnoxious without a means of automation and the default filenames are gibberish. I dislike the website for otherwise reasons too, but simply put it boils my blood knowing that many artists use Twitter exclusively, some even discarding usage of websites with proper galleries that also preserve image quality.
I get that it can be a pain in the dick to chase uploading images to multiple social media websites, but I'm sure there's tools for that.
