>>44886368I'd say the best thing about Ash over Gou is that he treats his Pokemon with respect from the start. Ash has outgrown the whole "Gotta Catch'em all" mentality from Season 1 and has been primarily* shown to capture Pokemon who want to come with him or he has befriended first then captured them second. Meanwhile Gou is still in that Season 1 phase, which means he's like "I want to capture a Kingdra!" So he just leaves and starts throwing a Pokeball at the FIRST Kindra he runs into, sometimes not even fighting them to show respect or doing the thing that Ash does and ask if they'd like to come with him. Its something that I hope, in time, Gou will outgrow treating them more like trophies and instead more like honest family.
