My family has owned birds since I was like 8. Loving parents so they'd probably get me a less common bird like Chatot instead of Pidgey.
My mom also worked in poultry so growing up I actually had pets like baby ducks (cutest things), bunnies, and at one point a rooster. Those were the days. I'm sure she had to take them back so they could grow and be killed ;-;
