Alright, apparently I'm not sleeping so heres the review.
Was pretty good.
The plot at the core was pretty straightforward, nothing bad but nothing special. With a few changes it could easily be a mainline game plot. I did like the wrinkle of the lake spirits having a fourth member.
I liked the characters a lot. I'm pretty easy going on that front, so thats not a surprise, but there wasn't anyone I hated and I liked a couple of them a lot (either for waifu reasons like Sara or plot (and waifu) reasons in Teresa. I was sympathetic to Owen, not sure why they went the meta route with it at the end, but it was something I guess.
None of it was groundbreaking stuff but everyone did their job plotwise just fine.
The difficulty curve was a bit easy. Though I'd like to call out the actual level curve was great, I think I got maybe one or two levels over the regular enemies at one point (maybe after the 2nd/3rd gym, before I had a full team), I turned the Exp Share off for a couple routes and then for the rest of the game I was always a level or two below the randoms, which is right where I think it should be.
The QoL stuff was all fine. I didn't miss seeing IV/EVs because I'm happier when I ignore them. Being able to relearn moves/change natures easily was good. I literally never remembered to use the Realidea System.
The actual fights were all pretty easy once my team started coming together. If anything I felt like it got easier and easier, by about halfway through I don't think I came close to losing a fight that I remember. Maybe I just had decent coverage by luck. I liked my team, though the only new one was my starter, the water bird. He did great, bulky enough to take a hit or two and generally able to OHKO a lot of stuff with Liquidation. His unique moves were interesting, theres a Steel move (with a neat anchor animation) that traps the target and does 80BP damage, and then a Dark 80BP attack that if used after the Steel one raises attack/spatk.
