I sorta feel that it feels too similar to the middle stage, with its similar design features as the middle stage. Rather than trying to stand itself with its own identity.
I would recommend trying to play up the proportions to make it seem more interesting and along with ensuring that each stage stands out on it's own rather than trying to make it seem more transitional to the final stage. I feel that the middle stage could use a design rework too, to make it stand out on it's own since it feels like it's bit too similar to both starter and new final stage.
