Overall this is how I'd rank them, thing is anything that isn't a "Critical Fuck Up" could be redeemed, this is the case of SM and SwSh imo, both could be fixed of their primary issues without completely uprooting the games and just making new ones in essence however it's because of the sheer amount of issues that they're in F Tier.
Moving up D- Tier is stuff that's completely outclassed by a later entry, DP is easily outclassed by Pt and while I'm sure someone disagrees, I think FRLG effectively replaces RB (and Y since I don't give a shit about the anime). D Tier itself is in a similar position although at least with RS the experience isn't so dramatically worse relative to Emerald as DP was to Platinum, XY is also in this position because while easily inferior to the Gen III/IV/V era games they're not a complete fuck up and still have some of the advantages of those era's games (basically Ohmori's really shit at pacing).
C Tier and B- Tier are fine enough games although don't really stand as something incredible for the series at least not anymore, Crystal is inched above GS for its improvements and FRLG is just better than GS by the nature of its content. B Tier is the lower tier of the upper echelon, I'm sure most people would agree that the games in S, A and B Tier are generally regarded as the best in the series and I only consider Emerald inferior due to its lack of additions that were present in Gens IV and V as well as an inferior plot and exploration to the other games.
A Tier Games are fairly close to S Tier ones for me although are just beaten out in a one on one case, HGSS not only has the girth of content of GSC but does it with Pt's coat of paint and somehow even more on top of that. B2W2 although I understand why people prefer BW's plot, has a lot more going for it from locations to explore, Pokemon to encounter, more variety in the battles during the game, the degree of Post-Game content and critical gameplay elements like Memory Link and PWT.
