>>55524612>Do you shoehorn your favorite Pokemon (singular or plural) into your storiesSet up a believable situation in which you character encounter said Pokemon.
>Is it okay to have a weirdly out of place Pokemon in the story just because you like it or does it compromise the worldbulding and suspension of disbelief?Depends on the story. But in general if you set up a believable situation, show other character reacting to said Pokemon, and the consequences of owning said Pokemon than most people would play along. Like if you catch an out of region Pokemon in the first chapter and no one reacts then people are going to have a problem. But if mc recused an out of region Pokemon from a poacher and then show how mc is having to deal with attention, problems, and consequence said Pokemon brings alone, people love that. Now mythical and legendary Pokemon need a lot more work and a lot of spacial care needs to be taken as it is really easy to mess up. There are also some Pokemon that are just basically off limits like Tower duo, Palkia, Dialga, Giratina, Xerneas, or Yveltal.
