Actually it's funny you mention gen II. The Pikaclone of that gen, Marill, is the Pokemon I remember seeing the most toys and merchandise of as a kid. One of my younger siblings even ended up going as a Maill for Halloween since it was proudly displayed front in center at Party City before he was even old enough to play Pokemon.
