>>53653222Same anon here, I replayed Emerald, Platinum, and HeartGold back during lockdown and completed the battle frontier in Emerald and HG. Yes, they are harder than all of the Switch games, by a significant margin - but that obviously doesn't mean that they're hard, it means I actually had to pay attention to the inputs I was pressing and even had my Pokemon get attacked. They even fainted a few times, and I actually wiped out to Red.
This isn't an experience I've had with any of the Switch games, and especially not BDSP lol. Even if you ignore 99% of the game and only look at the new Elite 4, the only new enemies in the game were more than outweighed by my Pokemon just dodging and critting every attack (in addition to having much better attacking moves) even though I hadn't fed or pet them or anything. Though I haven't played original DP since it came out, so maybe that one was just really easy and you're ignoring Platinum.
In fairness to the 3DS games, I haven't played the Gen 7 ones since launch and don't think I'll ever replay them, but in both games I just used 6 Alolan Meowth and never felt like the game was fighting back at any point. Though Persian has a type advantage against Necrozma so maybe it's not representative.
I also did the BDSP Battle Tower in case an anon wanted to bring that up, but your streak not resetting if you lose combined with an extremely exploitable AI (the enemy always tries to switch to a Pokemon that resists the last move you used, so you can force it to switch out of an advantageous matchup that way) made this also a LOT easier than the old game. I did it a bunch to get the ribbon on Pokemon that weren't in Sw/Sh. (And yeah that's a reset after 100.)
Also, what's up with the NPCs who still talk about Battle Tower Multis when they removed that mode from this game
