I don't think there's an imbalance in typing, I think there's an imbalance in offense vs. defense.

Good offensive Pokemon are way more common than good defensive Pokemon. Battles become about luring in/wearing down the one check to your sweeper that your opponent could afford to run on their team, or hell, you can just skip that process entirely with a Z-move.

But this also means that they crowd each other out. Lots of great-on-paper offensive Pokemon spend their time rotting away at the bottom of the usage stats because they're outclassed by something 10% better (pic related), whereas good defensive Pokemon dominate the metas they're in, and in Smogon's metagames, all the good ones get snatched away by higher tiers.

GF should either do a blanket nerf of offensive moves, buff Leftovers and berries to match the sheer power of Life Orb/Choice items/Z-moves, or make Recover and Shore Up more widely available.
