>>57320112The real problem is that it was Game Boy Color exclusive and didn't work on the original GB or GB Pocket, even though Gold and Silver did. Out of the 120M total Game Boys sold, about 30M were Game Boy Colors. That already cuts the potential buyers by 75%.
Looking at it relatively, it didn't do too bad. A quick updated version that cost peanuts to make, but still was the best selling exclusive on the GBC, beating Mario DX and Zelda Oracles.
