Something I've never been fond of is giving the MC a set story before the main events of the game, pretty much every single fangame keeps this at the bare minimum with some degree of vagueness in relation to your character. even Rejuvenation has an excuse for this, but games like this and garbage like Empire try to put you in the shoes of someone with a set path.
