Lance has a soft spot for young trainers who are just starting out. It’s mostly because it reminds him of when he was still a young boy with his Dratini so he feels protective of them and wants them to succeed. If he’s having a bad day and a kid comes up to him and tells him he’s his role model, his heart will swell with happiness and pride and he will feel like he’s done a good job as a Champion. His day will turn around completely, even if he doesn’t want to admit it. But little things like that hit the spot for him.
It takes him a really, really long time to open up to someone, and it’s mostly because he’s stubborn and doesn’t want to show weakness. He wants to maintain the image of being this perfect, righteous trainer that people can count on to fight evil, so if he shows you his more vulnerable side, it means you’re extremely important to him.
Being protective is in his nature, but he can get a bit too reckless at times and ignore his own safety. In a sense, he’s a little bit of a thrill seeker and enjoys the adrenaline of being in dangerous situations.
That’s all for today, I think! Goodnight anons!
