There are a ton of mentions of people and pokemon getting killed/injured/cursed, and cities/buildings destroyed as punishment for misbehaving in front of pokemon deities in the anime and games
PokeSpe follows closely the mood of what the games try to set up for with tons of fluffy and cute moments and the occassional cruelty and violence, specially the early games when Game Freak didn't shy away from showing injuries and weapons or violent battles in the games and promotional material, before having to tone it down for a wider appeal and either stopping being referenced or becoming text-only. PokeSpe gets away with still showing it because it's printed media.
