>>20040973I agree with most of this.
One way I like games is with a lot of content, that's why I love B2/W2 and Emerald before that... There is just no end to the things you can do.
Diamond and Pearl had the most content for the first release of a generation's games, and I liked a lot of the Pokemon added in those games...so IMO, it was the best first release for any generation.
>>20037935It is a first release, so it will seem weaker until they release the later versions. The engines and games have always been pretty rough the first release. I imagine we'll notice a lot more polish by the time ORAS comes out.
That said, while X and Y added a lot of new stuff, they are far from my favorite Pokemon games. The evil team, while I did like them for how flippant they were, the story was very weak compared to Gen V. I liked a lot of new Pokemon designs, but a lot of Pokemon evolved into things that didn't live up to their potential. The postgame was cool while it lasted, but way too short.
Megas and online are wicked, but there are annoyances, like 6vs6 battle spot not being a thing. I really liked Amie, but it was too bad you couldn't do all that much with it (Though it looks like ORAS added to Amie!). The minigames in it and Super Training were kinda fun if you got bored too.
I think it's a very good start for the generation, but they still have lots of things to work out.
