Long ago a young baby was abandoned by her parents in the wilderness and was found by a young Riolu who sought to give her a new home. Despite the Emanation Pokémon's best efforts she could barley take care of the baby. And one day, when trying to seek shelter the Riolu found herself attacked by a group of Passimians. When all hope seemed lost, The Riolu and the baby girl was saved by The Palace Maven Spenser. Spenser took both the child and the Riolu in, raising them as his own and naming the child Shinrei Wu. As Shinrei got older she had developed a habit of performing extraordinary feats. Whether it be by predicating other peoples actions to the point with it seems like she already knew what they were gonna do next or just straight up projecting a barrier to defend herself and her Riolu form incoming attacks. It did not take long for Spenser to realize his daughter was an Aura Guardian. But Spenser did not urge her into that path, he left the decision entirely up to her. Once Spenser saw that Shinrei genuinely wanted to walk the path of the Aura Guardian he began to teach her everything he knew. Once her training was complete the bond between Shinrei and her Pokémon was so strong they no longer needed to verbally communicate to each other. They all were in perfect harmony.
Shinrei doesn't have a gym in the Physical sense. It all takes within the Spiritual World(For anyone who has seen Kung fu Panda 3 you know what i'm talking about). Inside the Spiritual World the barrier between Pokémon and human is non-existent. Which brings me to the gym challenge. Trust, when fighting Shinrei Wu you do not control your Pokémon. The Pokémon controls themselves, and you simply have to trust that they make they right moves.
