And honestly, it's not even THAT huge of a deal. I only ever restart a PMD game to go through the story again. Plus, I would counter it by saying the forced nature of it makes it MORE immersive - rather than, say, Rescue Team's being able to stroll through Tiny Woods while a meteor's about to hit, or Explorers's able to backtrack to town and go wander in dungeons while the planet is ready to freeze in time permanently, you're actually required to go do the thing.
