Post game area. It was planned to have 2 cities (which we got one, Kiloude City), 2 towns, 8 routes, 4 dungeons and three facilities (Poke Transfer, Battle Island and Mirage Island).
Its theme season (in case you didn't know areas in Kalos are themed around a season) was tentatively 'middle of summer'.
Other than the three facilities nothing in south kalos is labeled but a location list lists some features in a town and a city in south kalos:

Team Flare(new)'s hideout
Ancient Ruins
By the way, in case you are confused Team Flare(new)'s hideout means "hideout of the new Team Flare" and not "Team Flare's new hideout". If my reading of it is correct, that is.
People often optimistically assume that Battle Island was going to be a battle frontier but I personally doubt it. If that was the case then why didn't they call it battle frontier? Besides there are no traces of scrapped battle facilities other than the mention of rental battles being cancelled.
Interestingly, the Mirage Island is still found in a map after they scrapped south kalos. Accord to a doc it was cancelled because there are no more record functions (think of record mixing).
Also, this map is missing the following locations in north kalos:
>Azure Bay
>Kalos Power Plant
>Lost Hotel
>Terminus Cave
>Chamber of Emptiness
So some of these could be south kalos locations moved to the north. Personally, I think only Azure Bay and Chamber of Emptiness might have been so.
>Other stuff
Other than south kalos minigames and gimmicky stuff was canceled like Rhyhorn Race, something similar to raids, AR battles, something called Dress-up Party and so on.
Zygarde having other forms was already planned but not for XY itself. Ironically enough this makes it the most planned third legendary.
