>>40191668>go combat is subparIt’s not mechanically as complex as mainline games, but both trainer battles and gym defense are fun to pair complementary Pokemon together for, and PvP autists would argue about the basic player reading depth that stems from understanding the game creates a large skill ceiling. It would be more interesting if they ever implement held items or abilities.
Anyway, the best part of Go isn’t battling, they’re arguably the worst part. The best part of Go is that you aren’t tied to battling, shiny hunting, trading to complete a lucky pokedex, grinding experience/stardust, or anything else. You start Go in what mainline games would consider post-game content, and the story is told day to day by how you choose to play. It’s not for everyone and living near a solid Ingress playground makes it a lot better, but focusing on battles isn’t how I would recommend most people to try enjoying Go.
