Pokemon has never and will never be difficult. The target audience for the games are children, and if you take one look at Pokemon Showdown you'll see that 70% of people have no real idea of how to play the game in any kind of strategic manner, and when the games ARE challenging such as in the Battle Tower, Battle Maison, Battle Tree etc. then people complain that it's bullshit and that the AI are cheating. People can't actually handle difficulty in Pokemon games and it's why we'll never have a difficult game.
