Here's what I think. Protean Greninja is often one of the first things people want to breed because "muh new toy". This, as well as the fact that some newbies wouldn't mind these are probably the reason why they flood the WT.
Personally, I'm sick of seeing them, Charmander, Ralts, Honedge, and especially fucking eevee, but I don't mind too much since at this point I'm usually doing it for the thrill or the miles anyway, and I usually end up releasing the unneeded stuff if it's really bad.
