The writers forgot how Petal Dance works, and that irritates me. Petal Dance makes the user confused after a certain number of turns, not the Pokemon it hits. This wouldn't be anything more egregious than the other slipups they've made, even in ADV, were it not for the fact that they already explained this effect when May's Bulbasaur got confused after using it. I'm not expecting a full knowledge or application of the games' mechanics or anything, but at least don't contradict your own canon.
