>>47234014I actually used Magcargo on my last playthrough of Crystal, mostly using mons I hadn't tried before (pic related - Donphan, Jynx, Meganium, Forrestress, Poliwrath, and Magcargo) and beat Red up on Mount Silver with a team of level 50s and without using healing items (after a lot of attempts). Magcargo absolutely bodied Charizard for the team, which was crucial.
But outside that, the fire snail definitely gets a bad wrap. Despite the two 4x weaknesses, he's got a lot of useful resists like you say, good STABs, and reasonable stats. I enjoyed using it. 10/10
