So, I forget what year it was really (only D/P was still out at the time), but one of my local Gamestops decided to host a PBR tournament for anyone with D/P. Better yet, if you won, you would also win a Wii (I already had one but I planned to give it to my friend who really wanted one if I did win. I just wanted to join the tournament really either way). Better yet, they were also having a small free raffle for some Pokemon goods for anyone who participated, mainly [bunches of] the D/P preorder stuff. (I ended up winning the Palkia stylus which I still have, but I stupidly opened it just to look at it and then taped it back in. No idea what I was doing.)
I went in with my ingame team like I still usually do which consisted of Torterra, Staraptor, Luxray, Floatzel, Lopunny, and Dialga. Generic the team, I know.
Anyway I remember the first kid I battled was actually an old friend of mine I hadn't seen in at least a few years because I switched schools. I talked to him a bit at the tournament and stuff but I never even brought up the fact we used to know each other because I was too beta. I'm not even sure if he remembered because of that.
I forget what his team was but I do remember taking it out with Torterra, Dialga, and Lopunny (Heal Wish to heal Dialga). I remember saying something like "I'll use Roar of Time again because I'm cheap" though (basically how I took out his team so easily). Oh god man I feel so chuuni and sorry for ever have had saying that.
Next round I got wrecked by someone who had what had to be an ev-trained Blissey that knew Ice Beam. I didn't stand a chance.
Me and the rest of the people who had lost though battled, traded, and dd underground stuff while we waited for the raffle, and just to have fun. I evolved some random Rhydon I had to Rhypherior with the help of that old friend. It was a good day.
