>>18150613I agree with your assessment. Yzard is definitely much more the proper "Charizard +". If 4th evos were a thing he looks more like the logical progression for the Charmander line to take, and his sleek, aerodynamic look is pretty sweet.
Xzard is more like a mutation. He doesn't look as refined, and in profile/silhouette/general shape he looks more like standard Charizard. Whereas Y takes certain aspects of the family and expands on them, X is just what Charizard would be if he were always a Dragon. He gets beefier, grows some spikes, leaves the fire-faucet running. Apart from the color, sharper look, and mouth flames, he hasn't changed all that much.
I think both are suitable themes and represent the two different paths for Mega-Evolution: natural growth and enhancement of abilities VS. a sudden and dramatic boost of power.
