it got downgraded for the actual release because the wii wasn't capable of pulling that off.
but instead of using that trailer as an aspiration to work towards in the future, game freak just said "making games is hard, please understand!" and gave us pic related instead.

I didn't play my first Pokémon game until I was 22 years old and I'm still with most of the guys ITT that Game Freak has done a terrible job with the games and LGPE doesn't give me much hope for the future on Switch, the limitations and performance issues of the 3D generations are absolutely laughable considering we're pretty much getting the exact same gameplay we had in RBY with some minor under the hood tweaks, some extra lines of text here and there and a poorly/lazily made 3D wrapper to put it all together.
