So I've completed the game and decided to wander around and catch all the Tapus. I realized immediately after catching Tapu Koko, that after I catch all of the island guardians, they won't be there anymore. Instead, they'll be locked away in a Pokeball, or stored away in the PC. After you catch all the island guardians, they won't be there to look after the islands anymore. Long after this has happened, the people of these islands will continue to warship these beings as if they are still there, hoping that their prayers will be answered, but they won't be. Generations will pass, and these guardians will fade away into legends, their historic truth being lost to stories and fantasies, and the inevitable disbelief of their very existence. Few will remember them for what they were, many will imagine them for what they may have been, and most will forget them entirely. It makes me wonder what happened in this world, where we come from. What happened to the angels? What happened to our gods? All lost to time the same way the island guardians will be. How much of our history is written in truth, how much of it is just an exaggerated story? Catching this single Pokemon has changed my perspective of the world I live in.
