The Orange League was the perfect time for Ash journey to end because he was happy for the win and that was the focus, that episode literally ended with Ash and his mons on the Hall of Fame like the games and nothing was opened further until the start of the next arc
This arc was bad because the whole promise was Goh searching for rare mons and Ash fighting strong trainers but it ended up with uninteresting Pokemon Go raids and Battles
The Pokemon World Tournament had potential but it ended up as one of the worst tournament arcs in the history of anime, Ash did not rematched old faces that were dropped in line nor faced anyone important that was hyped to him, nor was shown other past characters battles
It was rushed as fuck to the champions on main point because it was oblivious they were gonna have Ash win it
And even if he won, his journey still continue as he can always come back even as cameo or with a role in the next anime
