Every game being self contained and a one-off adventure has become tiresome, and them cockteasing the idea of a meta narrative only to completely bin the idea in favor of more annual releases makes me roil with anger.
I actually, unironically liked Gen 7 - the pretense of Colress was exciting because that's the motherfucker who fused Kyurem in a region where we have divergent versions of the same Pokemon AND Space horror Pokemon! Imagine if they decided to keep on this plot instead of Gen 8's ...thing, I'm not gonna dignify it by calling it a 'plot'. Imagine creating awful symbiote pokemon - like how Lusamine was bonded to the Nihilego (also remember how Battle Bond was introduced as a concept and then forgotten about?)
GF just needs to go like 3-4 years without making a new main line game and then make one REALLY good one. They won't because the mediocre ones sell every year regardless of quality but SV just REALLY activate my rage because all the bones for the best Pokemon game ever were there but it was clearly over rushed and under funded. The DLC makes me even angrier because there's so many ideas introduced in it that I know won't ever get a pay off and things content designed for it will never get polished and fleshed out like the new mini games. Like There's a Pokemon Snap quest! Wouldn't it be great to actually have a full functional Snap Game with actual progression INSIDE your regular Pokemon game? I'm so fucking mad they don't just have the time to do this shit right.
