I actually am enjoying ORAS moreso than Emerald.
When it comes down to it, the global changes from the generations make ORAS a smoother experience overall.
-3D Environments to maneuver around
-Physical/Special Split in Hoenn
-Cool Features like Pokemon-Amie/Super Training
-Communicating with others anywhere, without saving in Pokemon Centers
-Breeding that isn't completely RNG dependent like it was in Gen III
-Surfing is even faster than it was in Gen III and the encounter rates are dimmed so it isn't all Wingull and Tentacool every five seconds.
-Day/Night Cycle in Hoenn
Heck, even the little things in ORAS are nice as well:
-Soaring Hoenn's Skies + Mirage Islands that are better than the original one in RSE
-Fly/Soar to any Route/City
-Improved Secret Bases
-DexNav
-AreaNav, (which shows rematchable trainers easier than Match Call ever did + Berry/Base Locations)
-Improved Maulville that turned the second blandest settlement in Hoenn after Odale into something worthwhile
-Battle Resort Breeding Route (in place of traveling between Verdanturf, Maulville and two routes)
-Dual Hoenn Bikes
-Elite Four Rematches
We got all of this over what was removed:
-Berry Blending mini game (tap A on a machine)
-Game Corner + Wireless Adapter Minigames (In which Amie already has integrated)
-Gym Leader Rematches
-Double Battle Trainer encounters
-Original Soot Collecting
-Safari Zone Mini-Game
-Trainer Hill
-Battle Frontier (heck, the Maison is essentially the better tower at least)
The only crime I see is the removal of The Battle Frontier and Trainer Hill (and to an extent, the Safari Zone nerf). Heck, I'm positive Gamefreak will do DLC for these. If not, then maybe in the next Hoenn game, which is pretty likely considering they're still advertising ORAS well into 2015 in the anime and whatnot.
Heck, if the Battle Frontier WAS in ORAS, I doubt there would be any complaints at all.
