OK, quick backstory: I was obsessed with pokemon as a kid. Played all the games, watched the anime, had the cards, etc. However I've never been very social and just enjoyed playing single player. At some point (I think around the second GBA gen) I started to lose interest. The games seemed to be slowly focusing more and more on multiplayer. And the internet killed Pokemon for me. As a kid, playing with people was always a fun experience. But eventually almost all battles I did were against minmaxing fags using the same 2-3 teams. It went from "Let me show you my pokemans" to "Let me show you how well I followed this gamefaqs guide"
I never played any of the DS ones or 3DS. I do have a 3DS already, and I've thought of maybe picking up a pokemon game for nostalgia. I want to know how multiplayer-oriented the newer ones are. I really don't want to get excited only to have every other gameplay mechanic get locked away from me because I don't want to deal with people. I just want to make a team out of pokemon I liked and have fun.
