While, yes, this is not a comparison between 3DS and Sword & Shield since, of course, we don't have those assets yet, I find it highly suspect that they would use these up-res'd 3DS models for Let's Go and then not use them for Sword & Shield.
In other words, they said that they were removing Pokemon from the roster because they were going to, instead, remake the Pokemon they had to give them higher quality models and animations.
They lied to us.
