>>56570323A californian would nail texas much better than paris I'm sure of it and thats with America which is a way way bigger country. I know about specific stereotypes and dialects from people in other regions of my country that foreigners wont be aware of too.
There's so many things missing if you arent exposed to the same language and culture that connects people from birth.
As an example, would you know how the french celebrate christmas? The specific rituals involved, the day they open presents, the food they eat on christmas eve and after? Are they catholic or protestant? Do they go to church?
I dont. I just know baguettes and coffee. I wouldnt be able to reference this without extreme research and exposure.
Its just a minor example but it shows that a foreigner will already have a harder time depicting the culture properly.
Basing it on tourist hot spots is also not an excuse to make everything paper thin surface level shit. But thats all you get because the devs only got the surface level tourist experience themselves and its weak.
I'm not the only one who sees it like that either. People might not be able to put it into words but they can subconsciously feel that the connection is missing in the newer games. The devs can draw from way way less.
Thats why I think that it could legitimately be easier to create a new world for them.
Also this isnt entirely new. I've noticed multiple japanese devs jump the shark in that exact way, FF14 being the most recent example I can think of with its current dogshit expansion and the previous one which didnt do anything with its india setting. Maybe at some point the directors and producers grow old and are more interested in wasting company funds by sending the team to vacation spots.
