Gardevoir managed to pick up a lot of calm mind boosts, so it manages to survive the Magnezone's discharge attack. The discharge attack shorts out the environment and turns it dark. The 'darkness strengthens the attack' thing is one of the rare few times the field works out in my favour, as it powers up shadow ball.
