Cosmog is a strong contender for the title of worst possible Pokémon to use on your in-game team. If you use it as a backup, it's dead weight in battle until it reaches its final stage. If you're dumb enough to try and solo the game with it, you're in for an incredibly painful experience.
Assuming you don't hack it in and don't touch it at all, you're starting with a level 5 Cosmog that will get 1.5x experience and occasionally won't listen to you. It'll take 38 levels for it to reach Cosmoem, and 10 levels after that for it to reach Solgaleo or Lunala. As if that wasn't enough, Cosmog only learns Splash and Teleport, and Cosmoem only learns Cosmic Power. For 48 levels, you'll be reliant on depleting all your PP to even attack, and on a boatload of healing items to sustain it. This can be mitigated by heading to the Move Deleter every time it learns a move, but you're looking at 20 attacks minimum you have to burn through to get a chance at doing damage. On top of that, its stats are so ludicrously low that it's likely it'll get torn to bits before it can even begin to struggle. There's ways to finish a playthrough with only a Cosmog, but all of them are excruciatingly tedious and drag the game down to a crawl.
