This is actually my first time playing through FRLG and I went with Bulbasaur since hes always been my Favorite out of the 3 and will give good coverage for the first few gyms, First encounter is Rattata and on Route 1 and on Route 22 I manage to get the Mankey encounter i was hoping for, however I immediately get a crit and its gone forever, the next encounter on route 2 and Viridian Forrest, I snag a Pidgey and a Weedle, I use pidgey and feed it some early levels and wipe the first trainer although they manage to poison Pidgey before going down, at this point i actually took a break and came back only to realise the antidotes that i had were in Ruby and not leafgreen, Now this is my first time playing Kanto and i didnt know that there was litterally a antidote 6 steps away and lose pidgey too the posion, after this i decided it would be best just to get through the forrest asap and use weedle and bulbasaur to get through, thinking it would be best to just grind on the next route i immdiantly go to the gym and take everything down in one hit except onix who manages to go down on the 2nd hit with no drama, I planned to stop after getting the boulder badge but i wanted to get at least one more encounter and end up on route 3 and lose both Kakuna and rattata to the first trainer with the 2 level 9 pidgeys, at this point i realised i need to at least get something so i go through the route untill Bulbasaur evolves and encounter a spearow, Im much happier with using spearow due to it at least having Peck. However on its second trainer fight it comes down to either it or bulbasaur getting taken to the lvl 14 spearow and the choice was obv, after this i just headed to the next pc and bought the magikarp and thats where i left off.
