For me Ash traveling alone in Galar would have been more interesting, introducing for the first time the entire infrastructure of competitive battles, getting sponsors, advertising brands, training regimes, hiring a publicist, being accepted by a veteran coach, appearing in commercials, having a fan club, paparazzi, haters, scandals, lawsuits, corrupt judges, ratings, point systems, regional, state, national, and world leagues. To this add three more protagonists, so not saturate the audience with Ash, we could follow the separate stories of Marnie, Hopp, and Bede through all of this, with battles between them from time to time.
Galar had all the elements to create a hybrid drama of sports, entertainment, and politics, with touches of comedy, I think they rushed the element of a world tournament.
