Since a lot of people have said that Mega's are a way to make old Pokémon usable without giving them actual evolutions you'd expect them to get the same treatment right? So we'd have to wait until Generation VIII, X and all other even numbered generations.
How would you feel if they actually did this? Instead Generation VII and all odd numbered generations after it decide to give us a plentiful amount of Pokémon similar to generations I, III and V.
So besides the rare occurrences like Azurill, Wynaut and Sylveon...
Generation I - Plentiful Amount of Pokémon
Generation II - Less New Pokémon and introduces New Pre-Evolutions/Evolutions for Old Pokémon
Generation III - Plentiful Amount of New Pokémon
Generation IV - Less New Pokémon and introduces more New Pre-Evolutions/Evolutions for Old Pokémon
Generation V - Plentiful Amount of New Pokémon
Generation VI - Less New Pokémon and introduces Mega Evolutions
Generation VII - Plentiful Amount of New Pokémon
Generation VIII - Less New Pokémon and introduces more New Mega Evolutions
and so forth, so forth.
