>>55971423Both are solid options, and have great coverage that's boosted further in my writing (Dragalge loses Focus Blast but gets Fire Blast and Power Whip while Samurott loses Drill Run but gets Sacred Sword and Psycho Cut), but their typing and stats still present different advantages and disadvantages that can potentially hold the team back or push it forward. Obviously, both of them are going to get a lot of screen time, however one is inevitably going to show up more than the other due to being the mainstay, and I want this to be the one that can cover more situations. Alex's team is mostly offensive, however, it's also focused on versatility and has a bit of defense mixed in through Aegislash and Archaludon as well as a bit of setup with Glimmora. I think Dragalge adds to the defense aspect while Samurott adds to the offense aspect, however both can pivot with Flip Turn and threaten Ground and Rock with Water attacks. I'm mostly concerned about typing here, but I think that Samurott pushes Alex's team into hyper offense territory while Dragalge pushes it more into bulky offense territory, but which one is more versatile I am still thinking about. I want each member of Alex's team to not feel redundant and I'm not sure if having two leads (Glimmora/Samurott) might lead to redundancy, although playing mindgames with which lead is going to enter can also be a good aspect of his teambuilding, and Samurott can be more than just a lead, while Dragalge appears to be a bit more distinguished as a slow Special tank that can also serve an offensive role, kind of like Archaludon but more specially defensive but weaker overall, but this too may seem a bit redundant. However, the massive gap between SV NU and SV OU seems to suggest the opposite, that Samurott is the more versatile one. Regardless, I also have to take fight coordination into account, as I'm not quite sure which could be more appealing to write. They are also both thematically fitting in different ways.
