So many gen 1 pokemon got left behind after the spec/phys split and gamefreak started pumping out mons that specialize in attack or special attack. Realistically a pokemon's effective base stats is HP + Defence + special Defence + Speed + (highest between attack and special attack) - (Lowest between attack and special attack)
