You should definitely add that forest at the end of Route 2. Or at least make the other side of the river accessible if that gatehouse just leads right to the next town. You should open up that house above the Carbink pit as well, it currently has no interactions.
I don't think the Suggester tournament needs very much adjusting. With my eight main mons of Farfetch'd, Swalot, Illumise, Dusclops, Raticate, Mawile, and Grumpig, I was able to handle every challenge by switching between them as needed (shout-outs to Illumise).
I don't think Probopass is even necessary this early in the game. I mean, all my mains are level 40 after beating the first gym, so "early" is a very loose term. Nosepass has perfectly serviceable stats, moves, and abilities to hold itself over until some other point in time. It certainly doesn't need to evolve immediately after catching it.
What you do need is more Grass or Water-Types. Where it stands now, there is not a single species of either type available before the first gym and they would certainly come in handy in the tournament and for breaking up some of the monotony. There are caves full of water on a route with a flowing river, and not so much as a Poliwag to be found?
All in all, absolutely phenomenal work so far. I'd gladly help you test future updates any time.
