>>45115261I am not talking about how it draws conceptually from basilisk lizards, because yes it is somewhat faithful in terms of its conceptual inspirations coming from basilisk lizards and flying lizards etc, I'm more talking about the way in which the proportions and anatomy are rendered. You can see that Salazzle has proper definition of the upper arms in relation to the forearms, thighs in relation to the lower legs, the neck is of a proper proportion in relation to the body and head, and is more in keeping with real reptiles, etc. The only weird thing are how its digits on its hands and feet are rendered, because complex linework has gone out the window in Pokemon now, but in terms of the rest of the anatomy it is mostly fine.
Idk maybe it's just totally subjective. I just don't think Inteleon is in keeping with the design philosophy that you would usually see when drawing creatures based on real animals, like at all. Other people noticed the "beer gut" and that is also something that is more common in human characters, but even in human characters the arms are usually rendered with the definition that I described earlier with Salazzle. But idk, again it's subjective but I just personally don't like it
