In short, I still thoroughly enjoy going through Kalos and seeing what the region has to offer. Some battles were really close with a team that used in-game trades paired with a rule not to spam items in battle, but aside from the Gym Leaders and a rival fight with smart RNG (see round 2 of the bridge battles) the mandatory battles feel tacted on and like a time waste. There was that trainer with the Quagsire with Yawn I had to play around and the Veteran on Victory Road that required using the deer which were some good fights even while playing the game with Exp Share. Having to fight Team Flare over and over again at one point in the story was truly awful and made me stay away from the game for 3 days. I look forward to exploring more of the region in the next thread.
