The effect isn't as good as if I had just painted new tiles from scratch, but my primary interest is making sure the tiles have the same pixel density as the overworlds. The mountains are tricky because they're pretty blurry to begin with, whereas trees and buildings have more harder edges, so the only part of these tiles that's really higher resolution is the edges. I will still touch everything up in Pixquare to pull in the finest details, and make sure the tiles line up properly.
Pic related is the first tileset I'm tackling. Once I've got the first set of mountains dialed in 100% I can use them as the basis for the rest. The trees and ground tiles will need to be redrawn by hand.
