Let’s not forget that two of the starters are blatantly asian when it comes to design. And, while not explicitly chinese, the shillmon of that generation is based on Genkuro. Unova is slightly asian than american, because frankly, white settler american “culture” doesn’t have much depth, hence why they made the champions of both games resemble natives.
