After finishing the GYM Challenge, while exploring the rest of Sinnoh, Ayumu heard about the Champion and the protag beating Team Galactic, at the time, he just silently congratulated them and didn't give any more thought, but later, while exploring an abandoned Team Galactic base, he saw a footage of the moment Giratina appeared and took Akagi to the Distortion World, and was so amazed by the sight that his next goal then became to find Giratina. Eventually he found himself in the Turnback Cave, but there he only found the Griseous Orb, he of course didn't know what that Orb was, but he felt it was important, and decided to hold on to it in the hope it would lead him to meet Giratina someday.
